Swimming Night – Water Safety

We will be having fun at the pool and fulfilling the requirements for the Water Safety badge.

6th Melbourne Swimming Night

When: Monday 18 February. Meet at pool at 6.30pm. Finish at 8.30 pm

Where: Kensington Community Recreation Centre | Cnr Kensington Rd and Altona St, Kensington VIC 3031, www.melbourne.vic.gov.au/kcrc

Why: To work on Water Safety badge or Dolphin – or just to have a swim!

Cost: $3.60 pool entry per Scout – Please have your Scout pay to enter the pool

What to Bring: Bathers and towel. Goggles if desired. Hair tie if needed. Waterproof bag for wet things.

Those doing the water safety badge will find it easiest to arrive with bathers on covered with long pants, top, socks and runners that can get wet as well as a dry set of clothes to change in afterwards.

The Water Safety Badge covers the following:

  • Safe entry – jump or roll into water fully clothed
  • Swim – swim 50m, tread water for 15 min and float for three
  • Rescue – reaching assist, throwing assist and assisted carry
  • Safety – awareness of water dangers

The Red Dolphin Badge is gained by swimming 1.5 km (1500 metres) in one session. There is no restriction on time (within reason).
