Scouts Program 2020

Term 4:

Current Restrictions

According to the latest restrictions, groups in Metropolitan Melbourne can undertake face-to-face outdoor Scouting as a whole section but must be split into small groups limited to 10 participants (including leaders and parent helpers). A reasonable distance between each Patrol or small group must be maintained at all times. We will meet in Patrol groups in four corners of JJ Holland park in Kensington (for new linking Cubs, see Patrols below). Drop off and pick up will be at JJ Holland Park (in Altona St). Parents who are not rostered on to help are asked not to leave their cars.

Leaders will:

  • Wear masks during the meeting
  • Keep records of Scouts (name, contact number, time in & out)

Parents must:

  • Not send their child to Scouts if their child is unwell or showing any COVID symptoms
  • Ensure their child brings sufficient water
  • Not let their child bring food to Scouts
  • Be available on the phone to collect their child if asked to do so by a leader at any time during the evening

New parent helper roster – WE NEED YOUR HELP!

As we will need to split into our 4 Patrol groups, we need 4 parent helpers as well as the 4 leaders for each Scout meeting. We have established a parent roster to support us through to the end of the year.

The new parent helper roster has been developed and is available below and on the 6th Melbourne website. It is imperative that rostered parents turn up or proactively swap with another family in advance. It is very important that we adhere to child safety rules, so if parent helpers do not show up, the meeting will be cancelled, and Scouts will need to be sent home.

If a parent is unavailable, can you please take responsibility to swap with another family.

Parent Helpers will:

  • Wear masks
  • Provide hand sanitiser at sign in, sign out and required intervals
  • Clean equipment and high-touch areas

As restrictions change, we will continue to consult the 6th Melbourne Group Leaders & Committee and update all parents on any alterations to this plan.

As we make this transition and into next year, we call upon the support of all parents to support the Scout program and to keep your family safe. If you have any concerns please contact us via email.
